Eligibility Criteria:
- Only published titles shall be reviewed
- The title could be from any genre that includes but not limited to Adult Fiction, Business & Management, Children’s books, Non-Fiction, short stories and poetry
- For now, we will entertain the books only in English language, though the road map is to eventually include Hindi books as well
Review Methodology:
The reviews must include the following-
- Story line/Story Idea: Effectiveness, Originality, story gaps
- Story Telling/Narration: This could talk about the flow of the story, chronological order of the events
- Central Characters and their characterization
- Language:
- Climax
- Clarity of thought
- Important flaws and highlights
- Most Important…..How did the book make you feel as a reader. Remember, the words are forgotten but how someone or something made you feel….that feeling is always remembered
- In the end, I would strongly recommend if you could profile a reader also as per your own understanding who would simply love this book.
Ideal Reader Profile (IRP):
Example 1: Book name – “The Breakout Nations” by Ruchir Sharma
For the ease of use and visualization, let’s name our first type of readers as ROHAN and RUHI. Their typical profile for the fact that they are interested in “Break Out Nations”, would be something like:
Gender: Male or female
Age: 25+
Location: Urban
Ethnicity: Any
Education level: Engineering or Finance or Economics or any other Business degree holders motivated to learn perpetually
Income level: 6 lakh INR+
Industry/job: Corporate finance, IT, Trading, International Business, Business/Corporate/Management Consulting,
Preferences and Habits
Interests: Web browsing, Blog reading, Social Media active with strong Linkedin profile (special focus on professional networking), World economy,
Personality: Knowledgeable, influencers in their groups, travelers (traveled to a few destinations for work),
Which magazines/Newspapers does he/she read?: Forbes, Hindu Business Line, Times Business
What would make him/her trust a new source/blog/brand?: Reflection of honest opinion
Which issues are likely to affect him/her? Brexit, Socio-economic issues, US elections
Does his/her job satisfy him/her? Not easily satisfied
What is her primary need/concern in life? Be able to know the facts well so as to be able to drill down from a larger picture to the smallest point
What’s his/her general disposition? How does he/she view the world? Positive outlook
Favorite book: Good to Great
What type of computer does he/she use? What type of device will he/she likely first access your book on?: Use iPad/Android tab often; would access the book first time on a Kindle or iPAD/Tab. Later might want to buy a hard-cover book also to keep in the bookshelf as a part of his/her special collection
Example 2: Book name – “Half Girl Friend” by Chetan Bhagat
For the ease of use and visualization, let’s name our Second type of readers as Pranav and Parul. They are more of traditional type of readers who expect to be entertained from their reads. They are present everywhere in Tier-1, 2 and 3 cities of India and often like to flip the pages of their books while reading a physical copy of that. The profiling can be done in a similar fashion as follows:
Gender: Male or female
Age: 18+
Location: Urban, Semi-Urban
Ethnicity: Any
Education level: High school and above
Income level: Any
Industry/job: Any
Preferences and Habits
Interests: Web browsing, Social Media active with strong Facebook profile
Personality: Have a good sense of humor, Well connected with their Indian roots, Usually have a happy & positive state of mind
Which magazines/Newspapers does he/she read?: Any
What would make him/her trust a new source/blog/brand?:
Which issues are likely to affect him/her? Local issues
Does his/her job satisfy him/her? Usually are
What is his/her primary need/concern in life?
What’s his/her general disposition? How does he/she view the world? Positive outlook
Favorite book: The Alchemist, Five point someone and many more

Soon the site will have star ratings also enabled.
The business & management books will revolve more around the “Problem Statements” those are trying to resolve. So, the point no 1 above can simply be replaced by the “Problem Statement and its relevance in the contemporary or future world.” Rest all the points can remain there as they are.
All the suggestions welcome, as I said, we are no critic but simply the matchmakers who want to ensure that every book reaches its perfectly matched reader…..the books deserve that, don’t you agree….:)
Road Map:
- The ultimate goal is that the common people should come out and review the books lying on their book shelves.
- The site should give a technological tool using which the audience should be able to find out the books they must read. We will work on the algorithm at a later stage for this.
